Spring 2011
Finance Update
2010 was a great year for GMN. We met all of our fundraising goals, which allowed us to continue to offer the top-quality programs our members have come to expect. Our expenses for 2010 are shown on the chart below. We applied our resources to areas requested by the membership, with more than 75% of funds directly supporting programming:
- Nearly half of GMN’s budget went toward “Knowledge and Skills,” such as: creating new content that meets member needs and responds to emerging issues in the field; delivering an annual conference that is relevant and provides concrete tools and resources, and managing our vibrant on-line community.
- 19% of the budget was dedicated to being an “Authoritative Resource” for the field of philanthropy, like developing Project Streamline tools and resources, partnering and supporting efforts to improve philanthropy, and releasing and promoting the Body of Knowledge.
- 12% of funds were used to “Engage Members” by supporting regional chapters and encouraging volunteerism regionally and nationally.

All this work requires fundraising. GMN is fortunate to have so many generous members who support the organization financially. In fact, nearly 2/3 of GMN’s funds come from member organizations that provide dues or grants for membership. We would love to provide even more robust programming for our members in the coming years, but to do that we need you. When you receive your email solicitation, please respond. We have everything to gain by supporting GMN.
