The Finance Committee oversees the financial planning and management of the Grants Mangers Network. It develops tools to help the GMN Board do its job more effectively.

The skills and resume-enhancing experience you can refine or develop by volunteering with this committee include:

  • Measuring and monitoring the financial health of an organization
  • Accounting practices of nonprofits
  • Budgeting
  • Auditing process
  • Investing policies and practices

You’ll develop these skills through involvement with the following Finance Committee responsibilities:

  • Financial planning including overseeing the annual budgeting process, reviewing and monitoring the annual budget, and monitoring fundraising to ensure GMN has adequate resources to carry out its strategic plan.
  • Financial reporting including developing indicators/metrics that the Board will use to monitor GMN’s financial health.
  • Investment policy development which ensures the best possible returns while safeguarding GMN’s assets.
  • Reporting requirements compliance including review of the tax return before it is submitted and verification that all other required reports are filed.
  • Audit process management including recommending an external auditor to the Board and overseeing the annual audit.
