As reported previously, Dee Slater resigned as editor.  At the annual meeting we recruited an outstanding group of new and current Communications Committee members who have volunteered to serve as editors, copy editors, proof readers and writers.  The newsletter subcommittee met via conference call on May 6 and developed content and a timeline for the June issue.  Kent Cozad will serve as the Executive Committee liaison for the newsletter.

Ericka Novotny and Tiffany Stuck – Co-editors
Deborah Bloom – Copy Editor
Adam Liebling and Christine Niska – Proof Readers
Javier Sanchez - Publisher
Bonnie Rivers, Adam Sanders, Anne Savastano, Laurel Lee-Alexander  - Writers,                Researchers, etc.

The newsletter is scheduled to be published on June 18.

The publication dates for the next two newsletters are December 3, 2008 and April 29, 2009.  These dates were chosen to coincide with the fall board meeting and the annual conference. A more comprehensive editorial calendar will be developed and distributed within the next few months.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE THEME
The committee is revisiting the theme for the 2009 conference because the contest did not produce any universally agreed upon themes.  The committee members will send suggestions to Javier who will manage the process of collecting ideas to present to the Communications Committee for vetting and selection.  The selected theme(s) will be presented to the Program Committee prior to its June 25 meeting.

WEB SITE UPDATE
Catherine has posted the 2008 conference hand-outs and presentations.

Information about ordering the Best Practices Manual from COF has been removed and will be replaced with an announcement that the new edition is coming soon.  As soon as a release date or time frame is known, Jennifer Burran will prepare text to add to the announcement.

We are in the process of collecting revised descriptions of all GMN committees and current membership lists to be posted on the website.

Peg Butler will continue to monitor the website, with input from committee and regional chairs and Michelle, and send Catherine corrections, updates, revisions.  All edits will be collected monthly (exact date TBD). The Crescent Group has committed to making the necessary changes within one week.

GIGI UPDATE
Andrew McFarland, who is chairing the IT Sub-committee, reported that they will broaden their focus to encompass the overall technology needs of GMN.  He will keep the committee updated on their progress.

MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS
The committee distributed the Project Streamline press release to a broad list of media contacts.  This enabled us to expand our current list which will be maintained by the committee co-chairs.

The Committee also drafted and distributed a press release announcing the New Executive Director as well as a press release announcing the new GMN Board Members.

STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS
As Michelle requested, the committee has prepared several questions to be included in the member survey in preparation for the planning process.
