For more than a decade, donors, foundation board members, community leaders, and legislators have been tireless in their requests for greater grantmaking impact. As federal dollars to the social sector are slashed, impact will become more important than ever. One tool with the potential to help grantmakers leverage limited resources into better decision making and greater impact is Community Information Systems (CIS). By organizing critical data systems into an integrated community knowledge base, CIS systems could provide both the roadmap and the support for continuous improvement in grantmaker impact.
