BALTIMORE: A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT

Planning your trip to Baltimore for the GMN Annual Conference? Did you know:

  • Baltimore was settled in the early 17th century and was once the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the U.S.
  • Francis Scott Key wrote the "Star-Spangled Banner" aboard a British ship during the War of 1812’s Battle of Baltimore
  • 1500 buildings were destroyed by the fire of 1901
  • Writers Edgar Allan Poe and H.L. Mencken, musician James Hubert "Eubie" Blake, and singer Billie Holiday each called Baltimore home

  • The Baltimore Museum of Art with its impressive collection ranging from ancient mosaics to contemporary art 
  • The Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum
  • A day trip to our nations capitol with its world renowned museums, monuments and historic sites
  • A walk through the Fells Point neighborhood, with its cobblestone streets and eclectic collection of stores, boutiques, and organic or local-food restaurants
  • A day trip to Annapolis where you can enjoy shopping, dining, museums and the beautiful scenery of the state capital of Maryland and the sailing capital of America
