Michelle Greanias, Executive Director
Michelle joined the Grants Managers Network (GMN) as its first Executive Director in 2008. She is a longstanding member of GMN, serving on the first national board of the organization in 1996. Michelle has spent most of her career in corporate philanthropy, leading grants management teams to implement efficient, effective grantmaking practices. She has also overseen program-related investments; engaged in projects to facilitate socially responsible investments in housing and community development, increasing capital available to nonprofits; and managed employee giving programs for more than 5,000 employees. Michelle speaks and writes regularly on effective grants management practices and has consulted with government and private sector grants programs to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their grantmaking operations. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from the American University.
Nikki Powell, Communications Manager
Nikki Powell is GMN’s chief communications officer and focuses on developing and managing strategies to promote GMN’s services, events, and programs. She is responsible for writing and producing GMN’s website and publications and developing outreach campaigns to raise awareness of GMN’s members and expertise. Her experience includes implementing communications strategies for nonprofits of many sizes and in many sectors, including membership associations, advocacy organizations, and leading research think tanks.
Nikki has a bachelor’s degree from Converse College (Spartanburg, S.C.) with a double major in English and politics and a minor in women’s studies. She is currently a master’s degree candidate in organizational and corporate communications at Northeastern University.
Elizabeth Bicer, Education Director

Elizabeth Bicer is a seasoned education professional with expertise in the planning and implementation of online and in-person training programs. She is responsible for all education programs and content for GMN conferences, workshops and online resources.
She has over 20 years of experience in higher learning and not-for-profit association management. She brings experience in strategic learning design, technology development, association governance and membership recruitment and retention. Liz earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bay Path College and a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University.
Carolyn J. Sosnowski, Content Manager
Carolyn J. Sosnowski joined GMN in 2015 and manages content and community engagement for the association. She has 20 years of experience working in both non-profit and for-profit settings conducting research, managing information center services, and overseeing professional development and conference programming. Carolyn received a Masters degree in Library & Information Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Virginia.
Miriam Hankins, MBA, Manager, Membership and Chapter Services

Miriam leads and directs strategies to recruit and retain members at national and regional levels. She drives a concert of activities to increase member engagement and works to ensure quality customer care experiences to guide and connect members to take full advantage of GMN’s resources. She takes a lead role in building GMN’s volunteer and recognition programs to support the work of national and regional teams. Also, Miriam specializes in initiatives to maximize regional chapter operations to increase GMN’s member value proposition.
She has nearly 30 years of association/non-profit experience working in both professional and trade organizations. Throughout her extensive career, she has had direct accountability to achieve organizational results in the areas of membership development, marketing, chapter management, volunteer and customer service programs.
Miriam earned a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree with high distinctive honors (Summa Cum Laude) from Liberty University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of Maryland University College. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and International Honor Society in Business, Management, and Administration (Sigma Beta Delta).
Catherine Downs is a senior consultant with The Crescent Group, a New Orleans-based firm that focuses on nonprofit governance and association management. Since 2000, Catherine has served as the lead consultant providing staffing for GMN and now supports the GMN conference, Project Streamline, and various other GMN projects and programs. Prior to her work as a consultant for nonprofits, Catherine was an associate at the law firm of Lord, Bissell & Brook in Chicago, IL where she practiced corporate law. Catherine is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT and received her J.D. cum laude from Tulane Law School. She is a member of the bar in Illinois and Louisiana.
Lee Hays is a consultant with The Crescent Group, a New Orleans-based firm that provides a wide range of services to local and national nonprofits. Since 2010, Lee has supported GMN on a variety of projects, including membership outreach and coordination and special GMN reports and publications. Lee has over fifteen years experience in the nonprofit sector, serving as a program manager, fundraiser, grantmaker and executive director. Lee graduated from Brown University with a degree in international relations.
